Why is the Tourism Industry Conference carbon neutral?

The Tourism Industry Association wishes to lead the way in promoting environmental sustainability which follows the principles of the Draft New Zealand Tourism Strategy 2015 that sets out the vision for the tourism sector to take a leading role in protecting and enhancing the environment.

The Tourism Industry Conference is a carbon neutral event. The last threeTourism Industry Conferences and TRENZ 2007 and 2008 have also carbon neutral.

As part of your attendance fee you will contribute to offsetting some of the emissions produced by holding the event - including emissions associated with delegate travel, energy and catering at the venue.

In organising this event we will encourage our suppliers, delegates and visitors to adopt sound environmental practices that will reduce waste, conserve energy and other resources, and offset carbon emissions.
