About TEEP
TEEP (the Tourism Energy Efficiency Programme) is a joint project between TIA and EECA to improve the energy efficiency of New Zealand tourism businesses.
It was developed as a regional pilot in 2008, providing a strong incentive for TIA members to identify ways to save energy, improve profitability and help conserve the natural environment.
It was extended into a national programme in 2009, with a third stage rolled out in 2010.
In 2008 and 2009 the programme undertook energy audits of 25 TIA members and completed a fuel efficiency stocktake of tourist flight operators.
In 2010, EcoSmart electricians will undertake free energy assessments of small and medium-sized operators in Auckland and Wellington. Support will also be provided to implement the assessment recommendations.
Later in 2010 TIA members will be offered subsidies to undertake driver training through the New Zealand Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving programme.
